In 2002, PJ Ladd's Wonderful Horrible Life brought the world some breakout video parts from some Northeast rippers like Ryan Gallant, PJ Ladd, Jereme Rogers, and a young lady named Alexis Sablone.
Alexis' part shocked a lot of people into the reality that there could be other "real street" skaters besides Elisa Steamer, and that they could throw down the same kind of big tricks the boys could. She landed Am spots on the Firm and éS and then poof, she was gone.
Alexis didn't just disappear, however, and she didn't give up skating for good. She took time off to focus on college and getting her degree (which, if I'm not mistaken was in architecture... I could be wrong but I know it was something creative/artistic). After finishing school, Alexis has burst back onto the scene in the last year, and hasn't skipped a beat. She got 6th at the Maloof Money Cup in 2009 and won its Zumiez Destroyer Award for a switch kickflip over the planter gap, shortly after cracking her head off the concrete (blood running down and all). She took the silver medal at X Games 15. And just this weekend she took third place, and won the best trick contest at the 2009 Supergirl Jam in Venice.
It's safe to say Alexis Sablone is back, and I for one, look forward to future video parts from her. In case you're new to skateboarding, below is Alexis in Wonderful Horrible Life from 2002.
