Digging through some old film this weekend I came across some photos from a few years back at the legendary Mt. Baldy fullpipe in California. As a kid on the east coast, Mt. Baldy was a mythical place where pros like Salba and Brian Blyther shredded. When I moved to California in 1999, Baldy was one of my first missions. During the four years I lived in So Cal I made several trips over the fence and through the hills to the great…

Well, it all boils down to today. One last day on the tour, only 1 more show, and that show just happened to be at Franklin High School. We saw Franklin High at the beginning of the Xbox tour last fall, so it was fitting to end the 2009 tour at their campus. Again, it was another sunny, fantastic day, and we had a perfectly level, paved area to set the ramp up on. I know everyone was tired after 10 weeks of being on the road, but we all pulled it together to make one last show, and make it a…

Today started off a little rough. The plan today was to have 2 assembly shows, each an hour in length, on the football field, and have the students hang back in the bleachers. In order for this to take place, a lot of prep work had to be done on the field. Jeff Hermanek from the ASA office, had to come out yesterday , and mark off all the sprinkler heads on the field, so our truck would not drive over them today. After all that extra work, the field was watered overnight, and was basically…

Lyn-Z Adams Hawkins became the first female to land a McTwist on a skateboard this weekend in Paris. Tony Hawk and friends (including Lyn-Z) were doing demos at an art and music festival in Paris when Lyn-Z publicly stepped into the 540 club.
Congrats to Lyn-Z for pushing women's vert skating. That was a legit McTwist. Watch the video below.

Today was an early one. It wasn't so much that our shows were early, but more that we had a special guest on site today. The folks from the Fox show "Good Day LA" decided to stop by, and include us as part of their live broadcast this morning. That being said, we were treated to something we had managed to avoid all week thus far, LA morning traffic, YUCK!!! It's been awhile since I lived here, but one thing I most certainly do not miss, is the traffic. With us being in Burbank, and the school…

This morning we made the short drive from our hotel in Burbank, to the campus of North Hollywood High. It's a smaller campus just off of Colfax, and we had our program on the football field today. I have to give credit to our truck driver, Armand Sylvie. The approach to get our truck into this campus, was quite the challenging one today. Our truck is 55 feet long, it's pretty much like driving a semi truck. The way into the campus, you have to make a sharp turn, into a very crowded parking lot,…

First day in the greater Los Angeles area, and it was a warm one. After a very cold few weeks in Oklahoma City and Albuquerque, it hardly felt like fall today at all. It was sunny and in the 70's, pretty much a perfect day for some riding. We start this week off at the Reseda High School campus.
As we pulled up to the school today, we noticed a ton of trailers and activity in one of their parking lots, close to the football field. On one of their practice fields, they had a large…

We're down to the last day of the 9th week of the Get Up Tour. It's hard to believe this thing is almost over, but after today, it's only one more week to go. Our final performance of week # 9 brought us to the Mount Pleasant campus. This was fairly different from the last couple of days, because there was not a cloud in the sky, and it was hot. The temperature had been pretty mellow all week, it would dip here and there, but nothing too extreme. Today, it was really warm though. You add warm…

Here we are, 2nd to last day to week # 9 of the tour. Original weather reports we had gotten earlier in the week, had called for rain last night, and today. When I woke up today, it was bright and sunny, not even a morning marine layer, which is common in this area. The weather reports had claimed rain starting Wednesday night, and lasting through Friday. Whatever the weathermen said was going to happen, obviously didn't, because it was clear as could be.
Our travels today, took us…

Today is Veterans Day. Now that being said, pretty much every public school in the area is closed today. It looked as if we were going to have to take the day off. After some searching around, we stumbled across a private school in south San Jose called, The Harker School. They were in session today, and welcomed our program with open arms, so we were back in business for today. Upon first looking at the school campus on Google Maps, it looked as if there wasn't going to be anywhere to actually…

We had great weather yesterday, and today turned out to be another one of those weird days. There is no rain in the forecast, but when you're in the Bay area, you never know what the weather is going to do. It could be sunny one minute, and then a marine layer rolls in and the next thing you know, it's raining.
It was pretty warm outside, but it just had this layer of light gray hanging over everything. It never really seemed like rain, it just kinda blanketed the area. The sun would…

Week 9 officially starts today and it brings us to south bay area and back to San Jose California. This our 2nd year in a row in this area on the fall tour, with the Xbox folks. We just did it in reverse order this time. San Jose was the official kickoff week of the 2008 fall tour, so it's only fitting that we come back through here, on the 2nd to last week this time around.
First show of the week brought us to Independence High School. This is one we have not seen in quite some…

Last day in Sacramento, and it was the first day we didn't have perfect sunny weather. The sun would make an appearance from time to time, but mostly it was an overcast and somewhat cooler day, compared to rest of the week. As we made the drive down south the Elk Grove, it looked as if it was going to rain a few times, but the rain never came, it just stayed overcast.
The performance today made the last stop of the Sacramento week at Laguna Creek High School in Elk Grove. This school…
