Today was another crisp, fall day in Pennsylvania. We had a cold front blow through with some storms the other night, and it seems like it gets 10 degrees cooler with each passing day. When I woke up, it did not look very good outside at all. It was dark, windy and looked to be raining. No sooner did I notice this, my phone was ringing, and our tour manager was telling me we might have to do the indoor show today. I received another call 30 minutes later, and Sara said the outdoor show was a… Continue
I woke up today with a little bit of sleep deprivation, but with a smile on my face. The hard thing about being on the east coast, is that Monday Night Football doesn't start until 8:30PM, which usually means the games aren't over until at least 12:30 or 1 AM. That was definitely the case last night, because by the time the final seconds had ticked away in the 4th quarter, it was past midnight. That was where the sleep deprivation part came in. The smile part comes from the fact that my Cowboys… Continue

We had a good week out on Long Island, and hit the road Saturday around 1. We hit the typical Manhattan traffic, but were quickly on the NJ Turnpike and headed south towards Philly. Once we hit PA, the weather front hit us, and it was a steady downpour that lasted all night and well into the morning on Sunday. This did not bode well for our first day of shows in Philadelphia. A lot of our shows this week are on grass, so if the rain was going to continue, then the fields were going to be too… Continue
FINALLY! Finally there is a company out there selling something that kids AND THEIR PARENTS can wear. Cool stuff that brings parents and their kids together.
Teammomndad was created as a feel good company where parents can show everyone that they support their children by wearing a Teammomndad shirt, hat, or sweatshirt in whatever sport they participate. And kids can let everyone know and be proud to show that their parents support them in whatever they do. Kids can rock cool t-shirts,… Continue

Again Mother Nature has shined on us, literally. Last night a cold front moved in and the temperature dropped, as the wind picked up. It was a perfect fall evening. Again, the weather reports were littered with rumors of overnight rains, and possible showers in the morning. After 4 nights of reading similar reports all week, we were not very concerned about the weather today. Sure enough, when we woke up, there was not a cloud in the sky, and it was a gorgeous fall… Continue

Again last night, the weather reports kept talking about rain. The clouds started moving in last night, and the wind picked up a little. At one point in time, it started to rain for a bit, but nothing too serious. The reason we were all concerned, is because today's show at Sachem High was on the practice field. If it rained too hard the night before, then we were going to be forced to do an indoor show. The rain sort of came and went in small droves, but nothing too serious. When I woke up… Continue

For the 3rd straight day in a row, we had dodged the weather. As I mentioned in an earlier post, the forecast we got last week, called for rain every day this week out on Long Island. Monday was perfect, yesterday was cloudy but dry, and today, we saw more ominous clouds on the horizon off to the west. On the drive over to the school, it looked as if the rain was definitely coming. As we got closer and closer, the sun began to peek it's way through the clouds, and everything seemed to be… Continue
Well another day on Long Island and again the weather was smiling on us. The forecast was still calling for rain, and things looked ominous to the west of us, but the rain held off for yet another day. Our show today was all the way out on the eastern point of Long Island. As a matter of fact, we almost ran out of island. We got on the LIE (Long Island Expressway) and headed east for about 22 miles, until the freeway actually ended. Suddenly Long Island wasn't so long anymore. Riverhead High is… Continue
Love the idea of the tour but just like every other skate, bike tour no one ever brings the show to the Midwest. Ok sometime you come to Chicago. What we don't have kids smoking, doing drugs, dying of cancer in the Lincoln, Springfield, St. Paul, Detroit?
What's up with that?

Week 1 is in the books. We said goodbye to Boston on Saturday and made the short drive down to the Empire State. The tour is on Long Island this week, and we started off week number 2 at William Floyd High School. Now when we saw the weather report for this area last week, it had said it was going to rain all week. We thought today was going to be rough, but it turned out to be a beautiful fall afternoon. Perfect temperatures, and hardly a cloud in the sky. Our location at William Floyd High… Continue

The last day in Boston was a beautiful one, lots of sun, but a bit breezy. The ramp crew headed out at 0 dark thirty, to get things rolling. The rest of us showed up well rested and ready to shred. Once again, the ramp was set up in a park, just down the road from the school. It was a very picturesque way to end the week. Your usual author, Jimmy, had to head home to take care of some family obligations. So you have a new author today, as if you couldn't tell.
Action sports athletes often turn pro at young ages, but it is uncommon for them to become top pros, travel the world, and actually finish high school. “5 Months to Freedom” follows two top BMX pros as they juggle the life of a teenager and the life of a professional athlete—all while trying to keep their mom’s happy in the quest for a high school diploma.
“5 Months to Freedom” documents Garrett Reynolds from Toms River, NJ and Dennis Enarson from La Mesa, CA… Continue

We awoke today to more cloudy skies and some chilly winds, but the rain never came, which was good news for the students and staff of Brookline High School. Brookline is a decent sized campus, located on the west side of town. It was another cool old neighborhood, with plenty of homes that looked like they had been around forever, and lots of trees. As we got closer to the school, the streets got narrower, so it was amazing to me, how the ramp crew ever got the truck down some of the streets,… Continue
