Well, this is a first... X Games are using concrete bowls in its park course design this year. The park will be used for both Skate and BMX competitions, and to my knowledge this is the first time this has ever been done for a temporary contest setting. Sure there have been concrete contests... in fact the first contests held were on concrete parks many years ago, but it's never been done in a situation where the course comes down right after the event! Interesting. You can see a sketch of the…

The Red Bull X-Fighters event went down yesterday in Fort Worth Texas in front of a jam packed crowd. FuelTV had a live webcast of the event last night, and you can still find clips from the event over on its site.
Going into the event their were plenty of rumors we'd see a double backflip out of Cam Sinclair. Well, we saw not one, but two from Cam. Unfortunately his second heat against Mat Rebaud had some bobbles, so the double flip wasn't…

Travis Pastrana announced recently that he will not compete in most of the Moto events this year at X (Freestyle, Super X and SuperMoto) in order to focus on Rally Car Racing and Moto X Best Trick. That's right, he IS in for Best Trick, which means you better hold onto your seat because something big is going down. Travis doesn't need to ride by any means. He's proven himself time and time again, and is currently looking to dominate Rally. So if he's riding Best Trick, I suspect he's got…

BMX products have been getting some play on the tech blogs lately thanks to the boys over at Odyssey. The Aaron Ross signature grips they've recently released with a keyboard style pattern have the tech geeks in a tizzy. At about $10 retail, the pixel pushers can have these suckers on their fixies in no time, and Aaron's pockets will be getting padded!
Really, though, the grips are awesome. simple, different, and slick. Nice work guys. Check out more on the likes of…

I got another update from Debbie's brother today. Things seem to be going well, but there is still room for much more improvement in Mike's condition. If you look at the bottom of this post, Debbie lists a website for the hospital Mike is at. You can go to that site and actually write Mike and Debbie comments. Debbie reads them all to Mike, and she says it helps keep his spirits up. As you will read in this update, they have the option to pay for an additional treatment to help Mike see again.…

Here's a blog the hospital provided. I will try to update it. Please feel free to send your comments and I'll read them to Mike:

This is the first update email I received from Debbie's brother:
Hi,
Michael had his first IV treatment Friday, at 4:30 p.m. They put a port in his hand around 10 a.m. in preparation, which will be removed this morning. He did great. No itching, burning or headaches which can be common side effects. The process lasted 1 hr. 15 min. and we were in the treatment room with 2 other patients and their families. One from the U.S. and the other from Australia. One down and six to…

This was an email sent out by Debbie on May 28th, 4 days before their trip.
It has been over 16 months since Michael's (Vinny's) accident, yet the journey is just about to begin! On Monday, June 1st, we head to one of several airports on our journey to Qingdao, China. Over the course of the 5 weeks we'll be there, Michael will receive 7 treatments in a quest to restore his vision: "Michael Vincent's Fight for Sight." We go on this journey with positive attitudes, having faith…

Memorial Day weekend we had a major event in southwestern Ohio. The ASA Action Sports World Tour for 2009 continued, with a huge event at Kings Island amusement park, just outside of Cincinnati. It was an action packed weekend filled with rides, fireworks, BMX vert, and skate vert contests, as well as live music and freestyle motocross demos.
Mike and Debbie made the trip out from Virginia to come join the festivities. It was the first time I had seen either one of them since last…

MIKE VINCENT NEEDS YOUR HELP!!!!!!!!!!!
For those of you who don't know, Mike has been involved in the world of BMX for many years, both as a rider, as well as a judge for many pro events such as the X Games, AST Dew Tour, and the former Gravity Games. Mike has been a part of some of the most core BMX events like Rebel Jam and the CFB comps. Mike also has served as head judge for pretty much all our ASA BMX contests since 2003. When not working at events, Mike was a regular at any…
